has it been busy around these parts? yes. before i go any further, if you are interested in an INTERNSHIP or PART-TIME position with Mr. Goodwill Hunting and Rashon Carraway Designs, please email us your resume and in the subject line write "INTERNSHIP or PART-TIME"
alright...so about this new house...sort of.
for quite the time i have been really intrigued with shipping container homes (some call them storage container homes). i guess my initial attraction to them was the fact they were so inexpensive to buy and could really be formatted into a pretty swank design. lets take a look at a few.
when i first saw them i thought they would be a great project for mr. goodwill hunting. this would be great as n eco-friendly movement and would certainly make a NEW HOUSE for me, sort of.
as i began to look further, i realized i was only scratching the surface of the possibilities of what shipping containers can do. take a look.
wow. amazing.
i truly do believe this is the start of a great eco-friendly movement. and to imagine that the idea really started off like this...
...a way of creating housing for the impoverished.
since this isn't a short term or long term planning idea for me, i won't go into details regarding price, zoning restrictions or how they are made. honestly, i just don't know.
i do know that the idea is fantastic and it worth exploring.
perhaps this may be my new house...sort of...
so could you live in a shipping container home?

I have seen several articles on this idea and I simply love it. I think that in this "re-use" it world of ours it only makes sense. And how can we say we do not have affordable housing if we have shipping containers sitting unused. The creativity that can come with this idea is fun and chic at the same time. I love it. I believe they are doing a lot with this idea in England.
My first thought was NO... until I kept scrolling! And we all know you could make anything look fabulous! :)
I've been intrigued by this for some time as well! I'd love to build something modern and one-of-a-kind on some land! What kind of resources have you been checking out to begin with?
I've always loved these and they span the continuum as far as how luxurious they can be.
This is so hip. I love it! We have discussed doing something like this one day in passing conversation. Can't wait to see what comes of this.
Awesome idea!
I liked the idea but then the negatives started creeping in. Hard to heat. Impossibly hot in the summer. Could you stand the noise during a rain storm? My intrigue sadly wore off (sigh).
i must've been living under a rock! i have never hard of this! i think it would be a great idea for maybe a guest house. the sound of the rain during a storm would be heavenly!
the first few pics are fab, hell I would move in one if I knew where they were located, rent is high! LOL!
Great idea! My husband and I downsized a couple of years ago, and our home is much smaller than we're used to. I can definitely see how shipping containers could be insulated and retrofitted into a fabulous eco-friendly home.
Great idea! Retrofitting and insulating a shipping container or two could make a fabulous, eco-friendly home. Saw it done on HGTV!
