its monday and im glad you are here.
social media has revolutionized the way we share our present lives and
even a bit of our past on special ocassions like #throwbackthursdays.
these days are somewhat a challenge for me to participate in because i
dont have that many photos of me in my past (outside of school
pictures).
the truth is, i was never really comfortable in my own skin. my
abilities yes. my skin no. so i refused to take pictures. i hated the
way they came out and i didn't want that particular moment in time to
live forever in the form of a photo.
when i stopped focusing so much on what others thought of me i started
to see the greatest that was within me. the talents i possessed was not
predicated on my complexion, but my gifts. it was then that i found
"clarity of self"
myself.

I so appreciate you posting this. as a new blogger I am very uncomfortable with taking pictures and posting them for the world to see and stay out there in the internet land!!! I kinda of found a way to get around it but I realize that it really doesn't benefit me not to post pics of my style because readers want to know more about me which is scary and exciting at the same time. As a dark skin woman it took me a long time to say I love my color (especially since I got darker since moving to the south from overcast seattle) but I still am leery about photos. I know that I am beautiful so its not that issue(sounds kinda of arrogant) it was a color issue but you have inspired me to step out of my box and take these picture and stop saying "they will be coming soon". I thank you because people don't realize that within the African American community we deal with color issue. It was so brave of you to write this, thank you, thank you , thank you.
Beautifully stated! LOVE that jacket, sir!

My kids always duck out of the way of the camera, I'm afraid i will have very few of them too. Its a shame.....sometimess i wish i could make them see their worth!
Well you oooze intelligence and good looks inside out.
We live in a precarious society where the emphasis is on externals...
I think in my lifetime I've only met maybe a couple of people who like themselves. How sad it is.
So you're not alone.
But we are not our skin, and as India Arie says: we are not our hair. And the sooner we get this throughout the global world, the more we will all see love in its highest.
Thank you for being our teacher today. You have touched someone today.
Great Post Mr. Goodwill Hunting, I too struggle with sharing of photos and such and especially on the online platform. But I have gotten better with this over the past few months just know that others share the same feeling is comforting.
Ms. Linda
you are beautiful inside and out (:

2. There are few things in life more beautiful than a dark-skinned African American man who knows how to dress. My family tends to be carmel, but my niece is your color and she's absolutely gorgeous. I love all colors, and especially yours
You look marvelous!
This has to be one of the most transparent, thoughtful, and powerful posts you've created to date. I applaud you Rashon!
You've as fab as it gets dude, and we're happy you now know as much. Embracing yourself is as beautiful as it gets. Thanks for sharing such an honest moment with us.
Rashon- I blame my lack of old pictures on the fact digital photography was not around. All that film and processing was expensive! We are spoiled today.
I wish I had more old pictures... To revisit places and faces of my past.
YOUR new pictures are stunning and confident.

This outfit and these pictures are hot! Glad you overcame that.

What a great post--thank you for sharing this. It is tough to be on public display, be it online or in person, but we all are in one form or another. It liked what you had to say today, and I love the way you style and wear clothes--it's always a very dapper look :)
Rashon, this is a very meaningful post as we all have insecurities about ourselves. I am glad you gained clarity of self and have shared yourself with the world.
