...haven 2012...

i was asked to speak at haven 2012 on last year. i am so glad i accepted. it was an amazing blog conference. amazing i tell ya.
now i speak at a number of engagements on a weekly basis. however talking about the love of design with a twist of thrift is certainly new to me, but easy at the same time.
i gave quite a few tips and even some secrets that i told that group not to share, with anyone. i believed they shared it with everyone they came in contact with. lol
i did my best to make it as entertaining and informative as possible. lol. tey did a lot of laughing at my corny jokes. lol.
this was the very first time i used my ipad for a presentation and it is so much easier than a laptop. the first day i didn't orient my pages correctly and the auto-lock kept popping up. however, by the second day i was ready for visuals.
what an amazing group of women (and men...lol)

so i have absolutely no photos of my own. i brought my camera, but it remained in my suitcase the entire time (way ta go carraway). so i am using pictures from attendees and anyone else who doesn't mind me sharing.

did you attending my thrifting 101 session at haven 2012?
do you have a few photos of the thrifting 101 session? want to share them?

well go ahead!!!

I was at your session!! I have to admit Thrifting 101 wasn't even on my radar when I first got to Haven, but I'm SO GLAD I attended your talk! I learned so much and can't thank you enough!!! I have a good pic of us on my blog, too ;)

Hi! I just found your blog clicking through all the post-Haven posts. LOVE your style. Reminds me of so many well-dressed men in my neighborhood here in Brick City. If you're ever in Newark, NJ, drop me a line. There's a store around the corner of my house that makes handmade bow ties that I think would be just your style (Michael Lamont Neckwear). (I don't work for them or anything; your style just seems to be a perfect fit for the stuff they make.)

Thanks so much.

Carrie, I took a peek at MLN, nice stuff, but not really my style.

I LOVED your session! I took it on Friday, you are very charming, entertaining and informative. I promise, I didn't share your secrets. ;)

I'm the dork that took the DIY pic of you and I at the end of the opening reception. I'm posting it on my blog on Friday if you want to grab it. :)

Rashon, your class was great and tons of fun. Truly one of the highlights on my entire Haven experience. Thank you for your tips and thank you for being so patient with all of use ladies- our questions and picture taking :)

Simply Salvaged,

You all were so gracious. I honestly did not expect to have that much love from the ladies. You made a guy feel really special!

Oh, don't be humble! I know everyone loves Rashan! The thing I enjoyed so much was how much fun you were having and it was contagious! (hot babe in the second picture, included! Ha!)
Cheers,
Barbara

I'm so bummed I missed your presentation. The first day I was assisting a sick friend. The second day I chose another session but we could hear y'all laughing in the other room ;-D.

I'm curious about how you used your iPad. Which app did you use for the slides and did you just buy an adapter to hook up to the projector? I'd love to convert to using my iPad for my talks instead of stealing my husbands laptop all the time.

P.s. It was nice meeting you at Haven.
