and for $3...i bought them

i came across these marble book ends the other day. surprisingly they were only $2.99. i was shocked. i guess thrift store prices have been going up so much that when i actually come across a deal i have to remind my self its a good. thing.
although one of the book ends is damaged, the fact that they are made of solid marble really stopped me in my tracks. i do not often buy tchotkes as i think they create clutter and over time can be a money waster. however, every now and then i do buy one piece. like this horse bookends.
i will more than likely stash them away and bring them out when i finally buy a house. as i look that wont be anytime soon.
i do think if you are trying to create vignettes in your space small inexpensive trendy items are great for that.

so have you found anything for $3?

do tell.

I just got a lamp there the other day for $4.99 that I made over. Love a bargain, and love your bookends.

These are very nice! Good buy! I have found clothing for under $3, but not items for the home.

Well, you always like things in pairs... How can you tell that they are marble? versus quartz or jadeite, etc. You can put "cute little wreaths" around their necks for Christmas. I once bought a lamp in four or five parts in Martha's Vineyard for $1.50.It was lying on someone's lawn at a sale. I had the brass cleaned and put back together and rewired. It turned out to be a bouillette lamp. A small French style antique lamp with three arms coming up from the base. I bought a black metal shade from a decorator's supply place in the Bowery and voila, a $300 lamp. Ann

Yesterday, I bought the board game Apples to Apples for $3. It didn't have the rules, but I have played it before and figure I can turn to google if I need a refresher.

Bought a sheet for $2.99, turned it into a tablecloth for a party (no sewing), but those bookends are a much better score!

A few months back, I purchased a pair of ornate wooden candleholders for $2.99/each at the local Sally Ann. Too bad, I can't post a photo. They look like something that could be purchased at Bombay.

I found a hand painted and carved wooden bowl and top for $3 a a consignment shop. Looked sort of Chinese. Your bookends are a great find. I don't like broken/chipped/damaged stuff (I know, I know it lends character). I'd probably only use the one that is perfect.

Not Lately Rashan, I will start looking again as the estate, moving sales etc have started here, plus I need to visit the local Goodwill!

Your bookends are beautiful, even on displayed atop stack of books!

Rashon - what a pleasure it was to met you and hear you speak, too. (I am the one who told you about The Home Depot truck rental for $19.94 for 4 hours) :)
Keep up the great work inspiring others to think that "less can be more." Loved your energy and your humor.
Regards, Barb

What a bargain! I got a Danish Krenit bowl (medium size in green) for £3.50 which was a stunning bargain. I quickly bought it and hurried out of the shop before they realised their pricing error!

I found a Lilly Pulitzer skirt for $3!

I also found a low loft bed frame for $13. It's not $3 but it may as well have been, for furniture-price wise! All it needed was a coat of paint and a few hex screws.
