greek key chair

if you are a fan on facebook, then you are probably privy to the fact that i scored this amazing greek key chair last night
i was coming home from a failed client installation. i was pretty bummed as my client was not happy at all. there was really nothing i could do, but i decided to hit the local thrift stores. on my last stop i came upon this amazing greek key chair. i was going to leave it in the store because i didnt need it. a friend texted me and said BUY IT! she knew how quickly i leave great things behind.
after such a positive response on FACEBOOK, i took to the intrawebs to do a little research. this is what i found. a very similar (perhaps same manufacturer), pair of chairs on first dibs. first dibs is not cheap by any means...at all. there have been quite a few avid thrifters that have come across some amazing finds and were able to match them against first dibs. almost a right of passage.

i am not sure who the manufacturer is as the tags have been removed, but but but, i am convinced its a reputable company, perhaps baker or century if i had to guess.

UPDATE: a reader found this LINK that gives a good price point.

Sorry to hear your clients weren't happy. After 20 years in this business.....it happens sometimes. Especially when people really don't know what they want! Great chai find though:)

SWEET! -- a little sanding, a good lacquer-spraying, perhaps some candy-apple paton leather upholstry..?

BTW, that whole structure reminds me of Chinese Restaurant seating...

Great find!

I acquired two fabulous vintage MCM chandeliers at an estate sale for a song. A little research showed identical vintage lighting selling for 4800 and 2900 dollars.

So now, I have these great lights, that are way too large in scale for my home, that are highly desirable. The big missing piece of the puzzle... finding a buyer.

Ebay, Esty? The whole, buying, reselling, finding the right buyer seems overwhelming.

Do you ever buy then resell your fabulous finds? I would love to see a post with tips on reselling high-end second hand finds?

I come across highly desirable pieces all the time and don't have a place for them in my home but would love to snatch them up and find the right owner for them, perhaps make a little profit too.

Would love a post on the tricks of the trade buying low and selling high. Not sure if you dabble in that but it sure would be nice to hear from someone who does.

any chair that actually has four legs for $8.18 is a serious score. When it looks as good as that I'm not sure what to call it! Great find

As a chair addict, I could never part with this one. I love the simplicity of the design.
