let's start with the way out
this was on design sponge...i like pattern...but this may be a tad bit much for me.
let's look a few "solid" colored transformations...
here we have emily clark's green painted campaign dresser in her office. she was inspired by
this piece from vanessa de vargas, which was featured in lonny magazine
jenny of little green notebook, painted her campaign dressers white. which is quite refreshing
i've seen this blue campaign dresser on several blogs, it keeps saying hiliary thomas. if so, its so icey...icey blue...get it? icey bl-....ok bad joke...sorry.
jessie, who is preparing for her wedding day very soon, recently painted her campaign dresser red. this is certainly a wow factor in any room
what about no paint...
joi found a natural one and left it. her entire home is some serious eye candy for all you color lovers
bryn alexandra just enhanced the hardware and kept it as she found it and i like it
here dina, from the blog honey + fitz also mad the choice to go natural and its good...more importantly you should check out her 30 min living room makeover. seriously.
lindsey over at thrift and shout says hers is a bit rugged, but i like the rugged paired with the black and white accessories.
i know these are good...but i'm really leaning towards black
this one is from the black ice collection from lexington furniture
jenny from little green notebook, did this black one for joanna goddard of the widely popular blog a cup of jo
ok...that was a lot to take in. now back to me.
here's a refresher of my dresser
so can i have [your suggestion please]?

I kind of like it the way it is...but if you really want change I say white...
Black would be a safe option, orange would be cool, or add another really bright pop of color to complement the orange like french blue. your bedroom looks awesome byw.
Love these dressers-- if it is in good condition (like it seems so in the pic) I would leave it as is...and if you want to paint it-- would lean towards white? Have fun! Caroline
Oh no I have to say natural, because your woograin is so BEAUTIFUL! See how the woodgrain pattern is equal on both sides, and it creates a tiger look? Gorgeous.
i agree with bryn 100%, keep it natural. I would die, if i found one in such amazing condition.
I like it as is if in good enough condition. You could try that and then always change it down the road?

You are lucky your dresser is in such good shape and that you have the option to leave it. I am a sucker for a glossy white. White would really pop in your "man cave". Love your round up and looking forward to following you.
I vote for leaving it as is, the woodgrain is beautiful. I would just polish up the hardware. But if you must paint, then I think inky navy blue or black!
What a find! Maybe you could send your finds up this way!
Gosh, in your masculine home, I think that burled veneer is very handsome. I vote for no paint.

I think you could go three different ways here, Rashon. Given your bedroom colors, you could go with black, which is my first choice. You could also go with a gray {like your walls} or you could go totally the other way and use the color found in your throw pillows and duvet design - that copper color. Being that it is a bedroom, I would most likely go with either the black or grey myself to keep the calming feel of the room.
My vote is the same as most... I just found my own dresser not nearly as nice or in as good condition as this. I have no choice but to paint! If I were you, I would stay as is!
Hey friends...chimming in to say it will probably go in the dining room or the living room...the amount of storage this thing has is out of this world...
ok. carry on.
I am still listening...
I also vote for keeping it natural- maybe just polish up the hardware? I've been meaning to try the polish mentioned in this post:

Thanks for stopping by and for your comment! To answer your question- my dining table is vintage via my mom. It was my parents first major furniture purchase (from bloomingdales I believe?!) in the late seventies.
Sorry to be so predictable but I am also leaning towards leaving it as it, at least for now. It is fabulous!!!
OOOHHH- such great examples...so many options...I think I prefer the painted ones- but it alwasy makes me a little sad to paint something thats old with sucha beautful finish already....so my votes for the natural- and change up the hardware maybe!
Ok...It is a beauty as it is. But I am smitten with an orangey/red...
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the commenters choices!
Hi there!
First I´m so glad to have you as my latest follower! Certainly I´m your latest one as well:)!
I love your dresser and all of the make overs you´re showing examples of. I´m actually in the middle of a similar project, feeling all greateful for the inspiration I found here at your place! Whether you go for color or leave it as it is, it´ll be a success. It´s such a great buy!
What do you think of a rich blue?
Have a great day and good luck on the project of yours!
I think your piece is beautiful as is. It's got great wood grain and the brass details are sort of working of it. I don't know that I'd do anything to it! Sorry to be so boring, but I see a few others agree :)
You can't go wrong with any of those options. I have to say how much I would love it in a bright color ! I repainted a buffet in bumblebee yellow and it's yum.
You know I will always fall on the side of black, but it sounds as if you would like a pop of color. How about blacks close neigbor and go a dark midnight high gloss blue!! I think difinitely paint no matter what you decide on color. Kathysue
I'm not sure which room you want to put this in but I say go for the black. Then you can use it anywhere. Great piece!
I am so jealous. Anything you do with it would be beautiful including leaving it as is.
A bright blue lacquer would be smokin' HOT!!! Paint it and clean up the hardware.
I say paint it. Campaign dressers look so modern when they're bright and shiny. I would paint it the same kind of royal blue that your curtains behind the bed appear to be when the light shines through. Keep us posted.

U R TOO Funny :) (your comment about our husband on my page hehe) I'm jealous AS USUAL of ur campaign it's FABULOUS! I say paint it! I've admired the green campaign dresser for quite some time... I'm a new fan of cobalt blues and yellows... a pop of coolor would be FABULOUS but you can NEVER go wrong with white!!! Can't wait to see what you decide on hun.
I know exactly what you can do with it....
...GIVE IT TO ME :)
I had a look at your room and I thought a pop of colour to bring out the reds/orange on your bed would be nice. I like it natural too if you feel that the red is too much of a pop.
First of all, thank you so much for the shout out! I think it looks great the way it is but if you really want to change it I think black would look cool too esp. with all the bright brassy hardware. But untimely i would consider where it is going and what would be best for that room.
I think the woodgrain is much too lovely to cover up. I do love some painted furniture but I think we might see the trend of too much not being a good thing. In the days of old, wood was painted when the quality wasn't there. This looks to be a nicer piece. You could do a real contrast in the finish - a clear, laquered finish in the casing and a matte finish on the drawers. Have fun with it! - Wanda
My first choice is black. Second option is to keep it natural.
My vote is for grey - medium tone, super glossy - yum. Great piece, don't think you can make a wrong choice.
Just painted mine black from a previous two-tone white and green. http://brandnewandbeautiful.blogspot.com/2011/01/paint-it-black.html
I was going to vote for orange, but now that it's going in the dining room or the living room, I'm leaning towards keeping it natural. I bet you'll get a feeling as the room where you decide to use it evolves!
I like it as is also. I do think a dark varnish? would enhance the texture.
My vote is to keep it au natural! You can always paint it later if you get tired of it, but it's a heckuva lot harder to go from paint to natural. It has such pretty grain!
I kinda like the black, it's chic and classic, and still let's the hardware sing.
Nancy xo
paint that sucker black...you know you want to do it, Mr. Black and White ;)
I got two campaign nightstands on craigs for $40. Painted them black, of course
Is your wall color white? If so then I like the idea of painting it black, but I like the idea of color even more. How about that orangey red? Would certainly make a statement!
I just found you...clicked over cause I love love your name... anyway..must follow... but why oh why did I read this post... I love these dressers and I don't have a wall to spare in this house and my garage is full too!! I hope I really hope (for my marriage's sake) that one of these dressers doesn't follow me home from some store!!
I would leave it as is, nice blog you have here!
Agree with all-to keep it-or to give it a black lacquer finish. However, to do it right, it should be professionally sprayed, not a home-grown paint job, with endless sanding inbetween coats, and lacquering until your lungs give out.
Find a rug that sets the woodgrain aglow..use some tung oil, and enjoy the pristine condition of the dresser. It's gorgeous.
white, green, or black. That is my two cents!
I love its current color....
I am painting mine black however. But you already have a lot of black in your bedroom and some natural, warm wood tones will look lovely there.
I somehow missed this post :( Thanks for the mention. Enjoyed seeing the round up of campaign dressers. I like them in the natural finish--just think it depends on the space you're going to use it in.
Hello, I think that maybe you should paint the shell a navy blue and paint the doors to the dresser a cream color and maybe do cream blue and black accents around the room. Or a black shell and paint the doors a terracotta red that would be hot. Just my thoughts.
I really liked the article, and the very cool blog
I know this post is a bit old, but I was wondering how you knew it was a campaign dresser- as it doesn't have the T hardware on the front like all the others. I am in a similar situation with a dresser right now.
Thank you!!
