i like to reserve sunday posts for inspirational thoughts. this one is inspirational...but in a different way. i think most people like the style of candice olson. last night hgtv aired "candice tells all". this was by far one of my favorite shows because she used many of the homeowner's existing pieces and breathed new life into them by reupholstering and painting them. many of us have been doing this for a long time, but its good to see mainstream taking note of this and putting it on display.
i havent been able to source all of the photos, yet. but as soon as i find them i will share. i want to point out that candice liked a clients existing sofa so much, she used it in her new show's promo. now thas inspiring.

I'm so glad you like Candice, I also love her style and her personality. I recently read a blogger's post about Candice that was very nasty. She was totally hating on her style, which is one thing, but then she was making fun of her appearance and her height, and making fun of her name, getting quite personal in the process. I thought that was in very poor taste. Needless to say I don't follow that blog anymore. (But I'll keep following yours, it's fabulous!)
Oh, I am looking forward to checking out her new show after your review! That sofa she is on...so very fabulous! Take care, Caroline
I love her new show it feels more real to me. She shows some of the problems and I think covers the process better than her last show. The Canadian designers do a fabulous job, my favorite is Sarah Richardson it is too bad we can not get her show in the US. I love how she take a hi lo approach and her flea market finds are always re-purposed beautifully, just like you do Mr. GW!!! Kathysue
PS thank you for your sweet comment on my house tour over at La dolfina's blog, when I read it , I smiled!! xo
Like Kathysue, Candice and Sarah Richardson are my faves... I loved how those pieces painted white ended up feeling so fresh and modern. She truly did blend the old and new and it worked beautifully. And that hutch painted turquoise...so fun!
I thought it was the best room she's done so far on her new show.
I saw that show and was squealing with excitement. She did an amazing job! I was so jazzed about the painted pieces specifically the turquoise dresser and that sofa that was painted white...Wow, anyway I thought about writing a post about it as well... see great minds lol.
I really like Candice new show, it is sreal it was encouraging to see the behind the scene issues and trouble that she encounters while decorating, also Candice has gotten rid of all her added help(Chico) and have started to do more hands on decorating. Yes and it was great to see her work with the owners exiting furniture, guess people really dont have the money in our present time to purchase new furniture. Now it would be totally awesome to see Candice in the SA(Salvation Army).
I watched the show last night and absolutely loved the way the room turned out. And you're right -- it was so nice to see her come in and repurpose the homeowner's existing pieces. The sofa, chandelier, gallery wall, and buffet were amazing!
I love Candice and I just watched that episode last night on DVR. I love everything Candice does. I am also a huge fan of Sarah Richardson. Thanks for stopping by my blog and following. I am following you back.
Candace Olsen is welcome in my home any time! I need to set my TIVO to record on her new series. I would love to see her latest episode to gather some ideas. I have a modge podge of Goodwill furniture in my living which needs some major unification real soon.
Take care,
Lisa
Isn't Candice great? Can wait to explore your blog. Following you now.

I knew that any of my thrifting friends that were watching the show would love this episode. I immediately thought of you and it was funny when I saw your tweet!
I'm thinking of starting a weekly recap of the show every monday. we'll see how that goes!
I miss this.... will have to check it out. Love the Candice!! And she looks fabulous in that photo- really like her hair grown out long.
happy week!

p.s.. so nice to meet you!
I love Candice's style and really like the new show. This was my favorite episode so far. Loved everything about the completed room!
Hi, first time visitor to your blog, love it ! I missed the show but will definitely set the dvr so I don't miss any more, she's great.
Ah! I was totally thinking about you as I watched that and thinking you would love that room!
That was a great episode and that couch was so amazing after it was revamped with white paint. Amazing! Love your blog!
I love Candice..she can style the hell out of room. She leaves no space unturned.
I also saw this episode (I have programed my DVR to catch them all). I love how she re-used the furnishings and re-imagined the space by moving the piano to a more prominent position. I also learned a lot from watching her work with her clients. I am a decorator and it is good to see how other professionals have these (sometimes awkward) discussions.
In addition to Candice, I also love Sarah Richardson!
Ahh, another talented Canadian! Love that room you have of hers, the gallery wall, the furniture, the piano!
LOVE!
Very cool sofa! My company makes that big ass floor mirror behind the piano!
