...Mini Monday Makeover...

Today is the 26th day of
Its a Mini Makeover Monday
Ive painted furniture many times. Ive painted furniture for many years. Sometimes you just have one of those stubborn pieces. I painted this one.

As I sanded to add a second coat, it started looking like a skin disease, which in turn gave me the heebee geebees.

I finally beat procrastination and picked up a paint scrapper and started over.

smooth as a baby's bum
I primed and primed well.
So it went from this...

to this

Im pleased...

It's nothing like completing a project. I'm not taking on any projects like that until Spring, it's cold.

Great job! Trouble I have had is the drawers sticking on the painted parts. Am I not letting it dry long enough? Your drawers look like they would be sticky.

They can be sticky. However, I tend to let painted pieces dry for a least a week before them together. Given the age of the piece the drawers themselves arent on gliders, but they open and close very easily.

Wow...a lot of work went into this! It came out so sleek, though. Worth the effort!

Very nice! I love the glossy sheen. This piece truly got a new life, and thanks for showing us that it is not always a piece of cake getting there... :)

Just stopping by to wish you a wonderful new year filled with abundance, joy, and treasured moments.

You certainly improved that piece with paint. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who does projects that seem headed for disaster and have to be saved through creative solutions! Again, Happy New Year!

Great tip about letting the furniture pieces dry for an extended period...a tip I have a hard time following myself because I am impatient! The dresser is striking!

You SHOULD be pleased! It looks so good! That thing was screaming for some black paint. I just got a great thrift find today...it's pink so maybe not your style...but I think you of all people would appreciate its story none-the-less!

When I have drawers that are tight/sticky, I rub parafin or candle wax on the drawer guides and/or bottom of drawer.
